About Reiki

Reiki is an ancient Japanese form of energy healing, which was rediscovered in the early 1920’s by founder Dr Usui Mikeo.

The word Reiki is broken into two words, Rei ki. Rei meaning Higher Consciousness, which guides Ki the Life Force Energy. So, Reiki can be understood as Divinely Guided, Life Force Energy. Life Force Energy also known as Prana and Chi is believed to be all around us and to also flow through us. If the Life Force Energy is low, we can be prone to physical and emotional illness. If we are stronger in Life Force Energy, we are more likely to be in good health and much happier. Usui Reiki works with the energetic system. It helps to rebalance the Life Force Energy and any energy blockages we may have, so we can be more responsive to healing.

When receiving Reiki, the practitioner acts as a conduit for Reiki to flow through. The practitioner’s hands are lightly positioned over the body and auric field supporting the channel of Reiki and energy into the body, helping us to heal.
